A Short Study in...Jargon

The next in a regular series of short, 30-second reads about assumptions on design.

"My site describes products the way we talk about them at the company.  That makes sense to most people.

Right?"

The term may be familiar to you, but may not be understandable by your audience.  Using jargon like acronyms, industry terms, and inside jokes is not communicating your value.

Suppose…

…you are selling tires.

Which of these are probably OK?  (more than one answer is possible)

  1. MPH
  2. Sport Performance
  3. P215/65
  4. All of the above
  5. Ha!  You forgot to list something!

(NOTE: "It Depends" will never be an answer because, frankly, it is always correct!  Everybody's situation is different.)
